B-Sessions, Baby!

That's what I am calling the sessions I am currently doing down in Brenham, TX.  Sounds pretty hip, no?

Since I happen to be from B-town, and my mom still lives there (much to my dismay---move closer, Oh Fabulous Nanny to my Millie who I can 100% trust with my firstborn and who makes the best, well, anything in the kitchen), I decided to schedule some Spring sessions with my Brenham & Houston-area clients before Easter.  Brenham is, after all, the Bluebonnet Capitol of the Universe.  OK...WORLD.  But it is much more fun to exaggerate.  Makes me feel kid-like...like the SuperKid from my first B-Session, which was today...

Check out this Super Hero fly!

More to come tomorrow.  I have THREE, yes, THREE B-Sessions tomorrow, but I promise I will give you more of the SuperKid & his adorable family...there are just too many that I am enamored with to post this second.  It's kinda like when I eat Peanut Butter M & Ms.  I have to PACE MYSELF, people!  Now, I am off to rest up for my big day.  Nigh-night.

Miss Independent

Which 2 year old wanted to walk the entire grounds of the Dallas Arboretum on Sunday SANS MOMMY OR STROLLER?  This one.  She was too cute, and was just fascinated by all of the beauty that surrounded her...she soaked it up like a sponge while having fun with her sweetheart of a mom and a fun fun grandmother.  Happy 2nd Birthday, Miss Independent!  One day, you are going to rule the boardroom, I am sure of it!

Lookin' Smashin' in Easter Fashion!

This afternoon, I met some of my fave repeat clients down at the Dallas Arboretum for a session.  There were 2 sets of sisters, a built-in posse, yes indeed!

There were two 3 year olds and two 1 year olds, and they attracted lots of attention from passersby!  As well they should.  It is really hard to find a more adorable group of mini-Southern belles.  You may recognize these little ladies from previous posts...their chocolate eyes, golden skin, mischievous smiles, and twinkles in their eyes give it away.  The camera loves them...and so do I!

Groom & Bride, Along for the Ride

Oh, these kids are so cute!  Yesterday, I had a super fun engagement session with a JP Bride with flawless peachy skin and her Jack Johnson look-alike groom.  This couple is so laid back that they let me drag them through swampy grass and mosquitoes and dirty parking lots.  They were wedged behind pillars and backed up against pipes and managed to smile all the while.

Aside from the grunge of this downtown Wylie shoot, I found a gem of a seat for this couple.  While doing some test shots, I strolled by Candy & Jam Antiques and saw an adorable kissing bench...just perfect for my engaged and in "lurve" subjects.  The sweet owner, Candace, was so generous in helping me execute my creative vision...she let me put the bench in the middle of the street!  What a doll...if you are ever in Wylie, go say HI and check out her great stash of treasures.

Here are the adorable lovebirds...so photogenic, and such cool people...I cannot wait to photograph their wedding!  Yowzers, they are a handsome couple!

Frogs!

Bobby's cousin Natalie (aka Baby Jackie-O) was in town for her spring break this week.  We have done lots of fun stuff like shopping, eating fine food at Mama Emilia's (gotta try their crab-stuffed mushrooms), junkin' out on cookie dough, and watching education programming such as General Hospital and Hannah Montana.  Gotta love Spring Break!!!

Yesterday, Nat & I took Millie and Noopsy down to the park at the end of our street for some afternoon exercise.  We ran into the neighborhood gang of junior scientists who had apparently scavenged the banks of the nearby creek and came up with some fabulous specimens of amphibians and what not.  Millie was mesmerized, first by the "big kids", and second, by the crazy animals she had never seen!  Here is a glimpse of our fun adventure at the park...

Lookout, Lubbock!!!

OK, Seniors of 2007, see if you can top this...

She's cute, she's smart, she's a sweetheart, and she's a GREAT DRIVER (inside joke).  She's got some killer steelo (style, for those of you who are actually senior citizens, and not seniors in high school), and is 2 seconds away from straight-up taking over Texas Tech.  Get your GUNS UP, ladies and gents...give it up for my girl!

Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?

It sure does cross mine.  I had such a blast on Saturday.  What a fabulous treat it was to just roam around and soak in the surroundings.  The history of the area, especially since I grew up on a cattle ranch (and am a former Texas Polled Hereford Queen!), really touches me and makes me quite proud to be a Texan.  If you haven't ever been, go check it out!

Get a tour of Cowtown Coliseum and ask for Hub.  He is the manager and used to raise hell with my folks in high school back in Brenham.  After taking in a bit of history, hop on over to M.L. Leddy's to score yourself a fine new pair of boots.  My final instruction?  Take those new boots for a test drive across the street for the best chicken-fried steak EVER at The Star Cafe.

Vrrrrrroom!

Had a session today in the Fort Worth Stockyards.  However, the clients apparently forgot.  Hmmph.  After waiting half an hour to see if they would show, I decided to take my lemons and make some Texas afternoon lemonade.

I strolled up and down Main and Exchange Streets, just as I had done years ago when I was a partying college kid at TCU.  There were all of the old haunts!  Leddy's, The Longhorn Saloon, Cattleman's, Riscky's, and the list goes on.

The cat-calls, the air filled with cigar smoke and cowboy bravado, and the hustle 'n' bustle brought me back.  However, there was something that had been there for years that I had never bothered to notice...the bikers.  There they were, hangin' out, drinkin' cold beer in front of The White Elephant Saloon, talkin' about whose bike is best.  They told me all about their bikes, though they could have easily been speaking Japanese.  To me, they were all very cool bikes, but I couldn't have told you which was the best if you held my feet to the fire.  The bikers were gracious, and I hope that some of them get to see their "babies" on this post!

Feel the wind blow through your hair and hear the roar of the engine gods...travel with me on my virtual bike.  Imaginary or not, it's gotta be a Harley, baby!

A Storybook Family

I got a workout on Saturday afternoon.  I'm not kidding.  My legs are sore.  What type of exercise did I do, you ask?

I chased this little dude, and it was totally worth it!

James_closeupcr

Yes, I know.  He looks quite innocent, right?  Well, he IS a sweetie, but said sweetie is a cross country running superstar and doesn't even know it!  The Energizer Bunny has nothing on him.  Meet the beautiful family that herds him.

Fresh Flowers, Just for You

The wedding promo is over, I have come away with some fantastic clients.  They are all gorgeous and chock full of personality and I am SO EXCITED to work with each of them.  I can't wait to introduce you to the newest JP Brides!

For now though, I can only bring you this gorgeousness from RainFlorist Designs in McKinney.

Kate, the owner, is an absolute DOLL, which is just one of the eleventy-billion reasons I chose her to be the newest member of Handpicked McKinney.  Her wealth of knowledge regarding floral design is almost unfathomable, her taste is impeccable, her smile is lovable, and her price list is beyond reasonable!

Check out some of her work!
