I Love My Job

I love it mostly because I can take two opposing photography styles (posed portraiture and photojournalism) and juxtapose the hell out of them and come up with a group of images that makes me feel so blessed to be able to do this period...much less for a living.

I love that the people who find me and ultimately hire me "get it", and the resulting images are a collaboration based on trust, friendship, and are reflective of who they are.

I love that I have clients that can finish my sentences.  I asked John and his groomsmen to go behind this bus and give me a little bit of...and he filled in the blanks...."Smokin' in the boys' room".  I could not have asked for more!

I love getting to meet the guests at the events I shoot, and trying to capture their zany personalities (like Tristan, below...the host with the most, hangin' out with his sippy cup)!  I guess that is the social butterfly part of me creeping out.  This career is the perfect blend of getting to be creative while also working with people...PER.   FECT.

And I love being a camera ninja sometimes.  Sitting back and sensing which emotions are about to manifest and then clicking the little round button...oh, let me tell you...that can be oh so powerful.  I always feel very honored when I do capture those moments...I feel honored that my clients hired me to be the one to capture it all for them, like I got to touch a little piece of their souls.

So, thanks to all of my wedding clients, especially, who are allowing me to be a part of this very special time in your lives.  I love it...every second of it, and I am so blessed to be working with you!  May the sun continue to shine down on you not matter where you are.

Courtney + John :: Big Day

OK, remember how I told you this couple was up for anything...any time...any place...or more so, whatever I cooked up?  Well, they were! 

Courtney & John had a blast of a wedding with a warm family and the most hilarious wedding party I have ever met.  I could have hung out with these kids all day and night, they were so fun and just ready to give their all so that Court & John could have a rockin' good time.  Court put together a very laid back summer backyard wedding that was so refreshing and relaxed.  What came to the forefront alongside the splashes of yellow and dainty daisies were rich emotions, moments to remember, and a pair of white Jackie O sunglasses that will forever be immortalized!

Best wishes to you, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson!!!

After the ceremony and family formals, I snagged the bridal party and we went for a little trip down a DIFFERENT kind of aisle...at Kroger!

Tomorrow is going to be here before we know it, and we will get to celebrate the wedded bliss of Courtney & John!  I am so excited to get to photograph their wedding because these 2 are up for anything...any time...any where.  Stay tuned!

Emily + Travis :: Big Day

OK, ok.  I've had enough harassment over the release of these images!  I will set them free for all to see.  Finally.  Can I find another word with the "eeee" sound on the end just to make a cute rhyme?  Um, how 'bout...uh, yeah.  I'll stop before I annoy myself.

Seriously.  I had an a-frickin'-mazing time with Em, Trav, and their whole gang (including Mr. Lea...I mean JIM.)  The fams and their wild herd of friends took over Storybook Ranch.  I had so much fun photographing this event, period.  What made it even sweeter was that I had my homegirls there...my lovely and yet hilarious mom (aka Susie) second shot for me (we share a brain, I swear...) and Wendy Kidd, event coordinating guru, helped me rock the house all night long!  We were doin' the booty shake left and right, trying to get shots, and really had a BLAST...here they are...the long awaited shots from Em & Trav's big day!

Amy & Mark :: Round 2

As I am editing, I am getting so excited about these images for one of my fave couples, Ames & Marky-Mark.  OK, so I don't really call them that, but I just might be a tad bit punch drunk off of Peanut Butter M&Ms again.  Here are some of my favorite images that I hadn't quite gotten to when I made my first post...

Amy & Mark's Big Day

These crazy kids got hitched, minus the dog...but that doesn't mean that it was any less of a tail-wagger.  Amy & Mark were married at one of my faves, Storybook Ranch in McKinney, and they rocked the dance floor till the break o' dawn.  Big thanks to my homegirls that helped make this a kick-arse wedding...Lindy, my kick-arse second shooter, Kate of RainFlorist Designs, Wendy from Each & Every Detail, Allie of Cakes by Allison, and Cindy Mills for  comin' out to help out and observe on the photog front.

Oooo-wee, T-Shane (only the 5 people who actually watch SNL will get that reference)!  I couldn't even pick a top ten, folks...Miss Audie was just too stunning and worked it like Gisele Bundchen in Milan.  Paris.  LA.  NY.  Miami.  You get the picture...well, now you get 20 pictures.  Give or take...JP gives, and you take.

Here's Miss Audie's slideshow...we did her bridal portrait session yesterday, and boy does she have an entourage!  Hair, makeup, shower curtain holder, veil handler, and mom all came along to help her primp...all for the girl who described herself to me (in our first meeting) as shy and simple.  More like smokin' hot model if ya ask me!

Any way ya cut it, Audie is one cool chick and I can't wait for her wedding to Kevin on September 1st!

April & Kaleb

Here's a little Friday fun for ya...some images from last Sunday's brunch wedding in Fairview...the bride and groom (April and Kaleb, respectively) are the sweetest people, and their friends know how to party...even in the middle of the day!  We thought it was going to be a stormy day, but the Big Kahuna, as I like to call him, pulled through once again for me...thanks, dude!

Also, thanks to my friend, Lindy, who came along to 2nd shoot for me.  She is such a rock star and we work together better than peas and carrots.  More like peanut butter and jelly, 'cause who really eats their nasty peas and carrots (besides Mills, who had better eat them!)?  Lindy & I were asked over and over (especially by Kaleb's guy friends) if we were sisters, so we decided to nickname our adventures "Two Sisters Productions".  Too much fun in the sun!

How Many Women Does It Take...

...no, not to put in a light bulb, silly!  How many women does it take to bustle a wedding dress?  Apparently an entire hot mama militia.  Why must designers make it so difficult?  The brides just want to get to the reception to get their party on, so let them!  =)

G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S.  I said Glamorous!  Oh, flossy, flossy.  (Who actually uses the word "flossy" in a sentence?  Oh, dear Fergie...the hair, the clothes, the former Kids, Inc. career...why IS she so fascinating?)

Hello Princess Brides...yeah, I'm talkin' to you.  Already been down the aisle and don't know what to do with your 20 lbs. of satin and tulle?  Wanna be GLAMOROUS?  Then for the sake of art...TRASH THAT DRESS!!!
